SNP Expression Description

How does this fit in to your daily life?

Individuals with this SNP may consider choline replacement in the form of phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylserine, phosphatidylinositol and phosphatidylethanolamine and should also consider enriching their diet with choline rich foods (whole wheat, grains, legumes, nuts, seeds). Individuals with this SNP should consider consulting their health care practitioner about folate B12 and essential fatty acid supplementation.

Further research is being conducted on this SNP, please consult with your physician before taking any action. Even though current research indicates the possibility that current diseases are associated with this SNP, individuals with this SNP should be aware that this does not necessarily indicate that such diseases are present nor likely.

General SNP Description

This SNP has an affect on arsenic metabolism. This SNP protects against having a choline deficiency. This SNP is also important in reproduction, since choline is needed during fetal development (i.e. neural tube closure and hippocampus growth and development), which in turn could potentially cause Spina Bifida and/or effect memory. Higher choline intake during pregnancy is associated with enhanced memory that will continue in adulthood. This SNP has also shown to protect against organ dysfunction such as Hepatoestasis (i.e. fatty liver), Lymphocyte death, as well muscle and liver damage, if that individual is on low choline diet.
